The beginning of October saw the start of Our Green Tomorrow Initiative for the forestation and landscaping of municipal land by Geotechmin OOD, Geotrading AD, Ellatzite-Med AD and Geostroy AD within the Bulgarian Virtues Charity Program by the GEOTECHMIN Group. The first 100 variegated ligustrum hedge shrubs and magnolia were planted in the Chavdar Folklore Centre. The mayor, Mr. Georgi Daulov, and the executive director of GEOTECHMIN, Mr. Dominic Hamers, together with representatives of the donor companies, as well as some employees, took part in the planting.
The landscaping continued during the same day in the yard of Georgi Benkovski Primary School in the village of Mirkovo. Following the established tradition, the mayor, Mrs. Tsvetanka Yotina, took part together with her colleagues from the municipality, representatives of the donor companies and students in planting Norway maple saplings, which will provide shade to the joy of the children during their breaks.
Fruit trees were planted in the yard of Lyuben Karavelov Primary School in the town of Koprivshtitsa. Mrs. Boyka Dyulgyarova, mayor of Koprivshtitsa, inaugurated the planting symbolically by expressing gratitude to the donor companies, and hope for a more beautiful and greener Bulgaria. Students, who will be taking care of the saplings from now on, took part in the initiative here as well.
Planting within Our Green Tomorrow Program continues throughout the months of October and November in the towns of Etropole, Zlatitsa, Chelopech and Pirdop. It took only 10 days to increase the flora of the village of Chavdar with over 1,100 new plants – hedge shrubs, roses, lavender, etc.
The Our Green Tomorrow Program of GEOTECHMIN Group is a long-term program focusing on the forestation and landscaping of municipal areas. The aim of the program is to increase the local biodiversity for greener and more beautiful surroundings, thus improving the quality of life in the towns and villages where the companies operate. Last year more than 1,100 trees and shrubs were planted under the program in the seven participating municipalities.
