GEOTECHMIN GROUP’s long-standing partner – the University of Mining and Geology “St Ivan Rilski” was ranked No. 1 in the Mineral Exploration, Processing and Mining professional strand in the 2022 Annual Rankings of Bulgarian Universities.

It is an extraordinary honour for me that Geotrading AD, part of GEOTECHMIN GROUP, has been presenting the award to the University of Mining and Geology for another year. We have a long-term collaboration and this year we continue our support by giving scholarships, organising internship programmes and taking part in the complete equipment of the first interactive lecture hall at the university. We provide students with ample opportunities to build on their academic knowledge by gaining hands-on experience using cutting-edge technologies and machines. By doing so, we motivate them to find their professional realisation in Bulgaria,’ said Mrs Ilieva - Executive Director of Geotrading AD, part of GEOTECHMIN GROUP, presented the award to the Rector of the University Prof. Ivaylo Koprev, PhD.

‘I would like to thank the mining industry for being the backbone of our country’s economy and our university over the past 70 years. Today “natural resources” has a double meaning. It means not only the underground mineral resources, but also the most valuable riches – our children. Our mission is to educate these children and I think we are all coping well with this task,’ said Prof. Koprev when receiving the award.

The rating system was designed by the Bulgarian Ministry of Education and Science. The award ceremony was organised by the 24 Hours Daily. The event was attended by the Vice President of the Republic of Bulgaria, Ministers of Education since 1990, rectors and business representatives.
